FAQ's

What COVID-19 precautions are you taking?

As per Ontario regulations, starting September 22, 2021 we require proof of vaccination to attend our courses. As well, vigorous cleaning is done before, during and after class. Masks must be worn at all times indoors unless drinking or eating during designated break times. Class numbers have also been reduced to ensure a 6 foot distance is kept between each participant.

How will this course better prepare me?

Not only will this course help you to prevent, identify and treat many of the common illnesses and accidents that can occur with both dogs AND cats, this course is an amazing addition to any resume. Members of IAAPC and PSI will also be eligible for CEU credits after successfully competing the course.

What are your qualifications as our instructor?

Walks N' Wags instructors come with all sorts of experience and backgrounds. Personally, I have a bachelor of science majoring in animal biology, over 4 years experience as a veterinary assistant, over 7 years experience working with local dog rescues and have completed the rigorous training to become an instructor with Walks N' Wags!

How much does it cost?

The cost of the course is CAD $175. This includes the 10 hour course, the first aid manual you get to keep, a physical certificate for passing the course that is valid for 3 years, and a vinyl certified sticker.

Where is the course located?

Southpaw Pets does not have a physical building location, and as such the course location will change. We will however always be located within Guelph and the tri-cities. The location of each course will be clearly labelled for each course date.

What should I bring with me?

To prepare for your day with us you should bring a mask, proof of vaccination, water, a lunch (or alternatively you may leave to purchase a lunch if you have a vehicle), pens and pencils, comfortable clothing that you can layer on and off and your inquisitive mind!

Will I get a break during the course?

You bet! Each 10 hour course is scheduled to include two 15 minute breaks and an hour lunch!

Can I bring my dog with me?

Maybe! 1-2 dogs will be in attendance for each class. Dogs must be well behaved, sociable and up to date on their rabies and distemper vaccines. Proof will be required. Once you have signed up for your course date, email us and we will discuss if there is room for your dog to join in on the fun and training!

Do you offer private courses?

Yep! If you have a team or group you would like to be certified with that's no problem. I can travel to you, or have you in one of our studios. Group rates available
